Love your Keurig coffee but hate what those tiny containers might be doing to the environment? Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA hopes to ease your guilt, at least a drop.
The Portsmouth-based coffee roaster will switch to producing compostable single-serve coffee pods at its Suffolk plant by year’s end. They’ll be distributed nationwide, said Brian Kubicki, vice president of marketing.
Kubicki said it’s too early to figure how the move will affect production costs or prices in stores, but it should draw new eco-friendly drinkers. “We believe that this format will now allow them to consume coffee if they want to conveniently and not have that worry about the impact on the environment,” he said.
